Memorial Rainbows

All Saints, Lubenham, Leicestershire

  All Saints, Lubenham, Leicestershire

A few miles outside Market Harborough in South Leicestershire sits the village of Lubenham. The village is probably most famous for its annual Scare Crow festival which attracts hundreds of visitors over a weekend in the Autumn and is great fun for young and old alike.

Like most villages it also has a church which lies a few hundred yards to the south of the main road surrounded by well maintained lawns.

On the day of my visit the inside seemed dark compared to the bright sun outside and I was pleased to be met with the cool air inside.
Whilst walking around I noticed the sunlight streaming into the south aisle and illuminating an old memorial slab on the floor which dates back to 1720. The stained glass window creating a splash of colour. This didn't last long and I was pleased to have caught it on camera. With the age of the slab this must have happened on numerous occasions but probably only witnessed by a few people.

The church is open every day and has a fascinating interior.
