The exterior of this church in Oxfordshire is adorned with the most amazing stone carvings. Many quite fierce in nature others small creatures and figures.Over the years pollution and rain has taken its tole and many probably aren't as sharply defined as they would have been. This one is one of my favorites and I should imagine would have been enough to scare anyone. Whilst looking at it in the bright sunlight I imagined how different it would have been if this had been illuminated with a torch in the dark... reminds me of something from the movie "Ghostbusters".
Some of the other carvings from the exterior of the church are below. Quite a selection of weird and wonderful creatures.Including at the bottom the body of the above crazy dog who seems to have got his tail in a knot.
