Many churches contain brass memorial panels on their walls which may be regularly polished by dedicated cleaners and carers of the church. This makes them look very beautiful but can creat a challenge when trying to capture these digitally. I open use a flash inside but this can produce harsh reflection which render the test unreadable, without a flash the panel may look dull again amking the test unreadable. One suolution to this problem is to try and position the camera so that the brass reflects a stained glass window on the oppsite side of the church. Above is such as example which I think looks very attractive.
This panel dates from around 100 years ago and looks to have been regularly polished since its instillation.
Iffley is usually open and contains some wonderful Norman carvings.
