Some of the best features within our churches aren't always immediately obvious and require a little more time to discover. Even with time they still remain hidden. In this case I refer to ancient carved wooden boses which sit high above the nave within the shadows. Even with a good eye the darkness keeps them hidden, but once they are illuminated with a flash gun and magnified with a good quality zoom lens their true detail and beauty can be really appreciated. Notice the fine grain and ancient knots within the wood and the expressions on their faces, especially the tongue in the lower image.
St Andrews in Tilton is usually open and contains some fine tombs and features.
