St Andrews lies close to the southern border between Leicestershire and Northamptonshire about 15 miles from my home. I have visited it three times now and it is definitely in my top ten favourite of all the churches in the UK
. This is because it has so much to offer. I love medieval stained glass and this has a fantastic selection all of which has been restored and remounted behind protective cler panels rather than the dreaded chirck wire grids which on a sunny day destroys photos. It also has a superb selection of hatchments numbering more than any other church I have visited. It also has some superb tombs and a beautiful organ which sits high above the font on an elevated platform.
Yesterday the church was full of odd sounds emanating from the roof of the south aisle which were it turned out were nesting bats.
The church is usually open.
If not contact telephone number are listed on the board on the roadside next to the gate.
