St Enodoc, St Enodoc, Cornwall
Above is part of a carved slate slab which is located in the porch of this delightful Cornish church. It is dates 1687.
The complete slab is below
This church with its crooked spine sits amongst some fine Cornish sandunes in the middle of a Golf Course. For many years it was virtually buried in sand with the only access being through a hole in the roof through which the Vicar one lowered once a year to perform an annual service. At the turn of the last centruy most of the sand was removed and the church was saves. On approaching the church it remains hardly visible with only the spire visible.
It is the final resting place of the famous Poet Sir John Betjemen whose family lived nearby, and a favourtie destination for him throughout his life..
The church is open every day for visiting
